The Furnace plays an important role in Whiteout Survival as the heart of the city. It has multiple important purposes in the game.
One of its main functions is to keep the entire city warm, which allows the workers to perform at their best. Upgrading the Furnace is beneficial, as it unlocks access to new features and upgrade levels for other buildings in the city.
The Furnace has a total of 30 levels, and each level upgrade needs a specific amount of resources, including coal, wood, meat, and iron. Notably, you won’t need to have meat until reaching level 10 for upgrading the Furnace.
Similarly, coal is unnecessary for the first two upgrades (until level 3), but from level 4 onwards, a certain amount of coal is required. Additionally, iron becomes necessary for Furnace upgrades starting at level 6. This means you’ll need both iron and coal from level 6 onwards to continue upgrading the Furnace.
You can easily control the Furnace in the game using the in-game Action Panel, allowing you to turn it On or Off as needed. When the city gets too cold, you also have the option to operate the Furnace at Max Power.
However, keep in mind that running the Furnace at Max Power will require a higher amount of coal compared to its regular operation. As you upgrade the Furnace to higher levels, the amount of coal required per minute by the Furnace will increase.

Furnace’s Unlocks
As you upgrade the Furnace to specific levels, exciting new buildings or features are unlocked in the game. Each upgrade brings the opportunity to discover and access something fresh.
Here is the list of those unlocks:
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 2, it unlocks Hunter’s Hut.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 3, it unlocks Coal Mine.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 4, it unlocks Shelter 3, Clinic, Explorer’s Cabin, and Hero Hall.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 5, it unlocks Shelter 4 and Iron Mine.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 6, it unlocks Shelter 5 and Chief’s House.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 7, it unlocks Shelter 6, Lighthouse, Infantry Camp, and Barricade.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 8, it unlocks Embassy, Arena, Monument, Marksman Camp, and Infirmary.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 9, it unlocks Storehouse, Research Center, and Lancer Camp.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 10, it unlocks Shelter 7, Shelter 8, and Command Center.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 11, it unlocks Enlistment Office.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 13, it unlocks Drill Camp.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 15, it unlocks Hero Gear.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 18, it unlock Beast Cage (Pets).
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 20, it unlocks Mastery Forging.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 22, it unlocks Chief Gear.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 25, it unlocks Chief Gear Charms.
- When Furnace is upgraded to level 30, it unlocks Fire Crystal Upgrades.
I have 52.2% construction speed and am trying to upgrade my furnace from 22 to 23.
Based on the table, the duration should be reduced from (originally) 9 days, 8 hours, and 40 minutes to around 4 days.
But what I see in the game is 6 days, 3 hours, 36 minutes, 46 seconds, which is only a 34.4% reduction.
Although the information about the required materials is correct, the Upgrade Time on the table is not.
Based on my calculations the Upgrade times have been increased by 37.5% since the last update.
50% speed does not equal 50% time reduction keep that in mind, 100% speed is reducing the time in half and 50% speed is reducing the time by 1/4th or (25%)
That makes sense
